Conference Scholarship print this page
A scholarship of $500 is awarded every year at the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference to one recipient for post-graduate opportunities.
Requirements
- Applicants must be a high school senior during the 2008-2009 school year.
- If selected, applicants must attend the conference; the scholarship will be awarded at the opening ceremonies.
- Applicants must show evidence of participation in diversity, community service, or human rights-oriented activities within schools and/or communities.
- Applicants must fill out an online registration form and submit a brief essay (1000 words or less) on topics such as:
- the importance of diversity activities in one's life;
- how the student first became involved with these activities;
- what role these activities will play in his or her post-graduate plans;
- a person or group he or she admires for their commitment to diversity; or
- the impact his or her work has had in their community, etc.
- Applicants must have an unrelated adult write a confidential recommendation sent to us via the mail, not electronically.
Note that an applicant's GPA and financial status will not be taken into consideration when awarding this scholarship. An independent committee will select the winning recipient. Names of individuals and their schools will not be given to the committee members so that the selection of winners can be as unbiased as possible.
Deadline
Both the application and recommendation are due by Monday, January 5, 2009 by 3:00 pm.
